We have been working for a while now on reinventing our job management interface. You are spending a fair amount of time using it, and making things easier for you is one of our top priorities. So we started a new project, that resulted in a totally redesigned interface, created from scratch. The project has reached the RC phase now, and I’m excited to share it with you!
The main goal of the new interface is to help you be more productive. We analyzed the way you are using our service, and based on the data, we put emphasis on certain areas and made some functionality easier to access. Plus, there are a number of extra features that will help you focus on what is important: creating and delivering projects. And of course, the new interface adapts to the device you are using, from a phone to a large desktop screen.
Starting at the design level, the render previews have been made larger so you can see all the details of your work before downloading the files. Having a good indication of what the project looks like as early as possible can help save valuable time in your workflow.
For the long nights of work, you now have a dark mode to help reduce eye strain and keep you focused.
The renders in your account can now be viewed either as tiles or as a list, to suit your preference. Both have infinite scroll, so no more changing pages to view the next project.
At the job management level, there are now options to filter the renders based on the render engine, job status, rendering device (CPU/GPU) and type of render (still image or animation). If you have a lot of renders in your account, now it will be easier to find the one you are looking for.
The filter option comes together with the sort function – by name, date and price. Combine the two as needed for faster access to your renders.
If you work on several projects, or for several clients, at the same time, the tag function will help keep renders grouped. Simply assign a tag (the client name, the project name, the Upwork/Freelancer bid or anything else) to all the renders in a project, and then find them with just a click.
For the RenderStreet One (our monthly plan) users, there is now the possibility to manually reorder the job queue. Click on the reorder button and just drag and drop the renders as needed. You have asked for this feature, we obliged ๐
The new interface is an important project by itself and is also part of a bigger upgrade that is being gradually rolled out for RenderStreet. This means that, aside from the interface changes, a number of core functions have also been optimized to work better and faster. One of them is the cloud transfer feature, which is now significantly improved.
The upload procedure for projects has also been optimized, and now it’s faster and more fault-tolerant for poor connections. It also allows uploading larger files this way, too. It’s the same technology that powers the upgraded Blender plug-in we announced a while ago.
We have also greatly improved the rendering process for Eevee. The new interface adds a frame grouping option, which reduces the render time and the cost for Eevee projects. We have been the first render farm (and probably still the only one after one and a half years) to offer Eevee rendering, and we have spent the time to refine the process for optimal performance.
The same option helps optimize the render time for any project with very fast frames, so it can be used for Cycles renders as well.
Access to the new interface will come gradually to all accounts. When you receive the notification, just click the link and use your regular account username and password to log in. Or, if you can’t wait, access it directly with this link.
The work continues, and other upgrades are coming soon. The next big release is infrastructure-focused, and there are others to come. Keep close to learn about them as soon as they become available. In the meantime, enjoy the new interface and discover the new things that weren’t mentioned in this article ๐
