The RenderStreet One subscription has proven to be a precious tool for artists and studios needing to render large volumes with low budgets or have a rendering solution with fixed costs to help forecast company expenses. The plan has been going strong since its launch in 2017 and has delivered tens of millions of frames since then.
As you already know, we are periodically upgrading our hardware and we make every effort to offer the best possible cost/performance ratio to our users. We have upgraded the On Demand servers multiple times in the past and now it’s time to refresh the machines for the RenderStreet One plan as well.
The new machines have been in beta-testing for a while and we are now rolling them out in production gradually. They are faster (approximately twice as fast as the old ones, on average) and have twice the RAM (64 GB compared to 32 GB for the outgoing machines). The storage has been also upgraded to the fastest NVME solution available currently, for faster loading of the scenes. This means that you can now render larger, more demanding projects, and deliver them faster.
You don’t need to take any action to switch your account to the new machines. It will happen automatically and, if you have any active renders, they won’t be interrupted during the transition.
We put the old and new machines through our battery of rendering tests, to give you an idea of the performance upgrade. The results are as follows, projects rendered with Blender 3.5:
1. Victor, 2,048 x 858 px, 600 Samples
The new machines complete the render in approximately half the time, compared to the old ones. Twice the speed, plus the advantage of not needing to upgrade the render time limits if the project is right at the 15-minute limit.
2. Racing Car, 4,508 x 2,480 px, 500 samples
The second test is the splash screen from Blender 2.77 – Racing Car, created by Pokedstudio. We used the 100% version, which is just above 4K resolution. For this project, the new machines are completing the render in just 37% of the old machines’ time. This means almost three times as fast. Aside from the much faster delivery, this means that such a complex project can be rendered as an animation using our subscription plan.
3. Barbershop, 2048 x 858 px, 800 samples
This test file is a variation of the original Barbershop scene, set to render at 800 samples. The render is completed by the new machines in 44% of the original time – meaning, again, over twice as fast compared to the old ones. The decrease in render time means that a render time upgrade is no longer necessary for such a project, with the new machines.
4. Sinosauropteryx Prima, 1,920 x 1,080 px, 250 samples
This demo file is the splash screen from Blender 2.92, created by Joanna Kobierska. The new servers complete the frame in half the time, compared to the old ones – so, one more time, twice the speed.
5. White Lands, 4,268 x 2,109 px, 128 samples
Moving again to a high-resolution (4K) demanding scene – the splash screen from Blender 3.2, created by Oksana Dobrovolska. While the old servers took quite a long time to complete the render, the new machines complete it in 42% of the initial time – more than twice as fast. This is another example of a project that couldn’t fit into the subscription terms as an animation before but can be rendered now on a budget without any issues.
6. Scanlands, 2,350 x 1,000 px, 300 samples
The last benchmark of this suite is the splash screen from Blender 3.3 – Scanlands, by Piotr Krynski. We can observe that in this case, also, the new machines are about twice as fast as the old ones.
Pricing update
At RenderStreet, our goal has been to always offer the best solution for your rendering needs, whether you have a small or a big project, whether your deadline is ‘now’ or more relaxed. As the economical landscape has changed significantly over the past years, we have faced increased costs for our infrastructure. We have absorbed these costs until now, but at this moment we have to change the price for the One plan in order to keep offering the same value.
This price update allows us to continue offering this industry-unique plan for you without compromise.
Our pricing page will outline the new pricing starting with June 1st, 2023. Customers with an active RenderStreet One subscription will continue to use the current prices until August 1st, 2023. The updated price will be in effect immediately for customers who activate a new subscription, or re-activate a suspended or expired one starting with June 1st. If you have an active subscription, you can also switch from monthly to yearly term in order to lock in the current price.
We thank you for your continued support and for allowing us to provide you with the tools needed to deliver your projects safely and worry-free. We’ll keep making RenderStreet the best rendering platform for your projects, without slowing down.
