OSL support added

Last updated on by .

OSL monkeyOSL has been supported in Blender for some time, and we have been working on adding it to RenderStreet as well. It should have been supported some time ago, but we ran into issues building the support for the OSL compiler on our platform. So , because of that, it has been delayed for a while.

I am glad to say that finally we are able to support it. The image you see above has been rendered on our farm, based on a shader made by elbrujodelatribu. It has been rendered in 8:15 minutes (with 1000 samples) on RenderStreet, which is relatively reasonable considering how new the OSL implementation is. Let’s hope that in the future the OSL performance will get a big boost and we’ll see decreased rendering times. And maybe GPU support for OSL as well, if we get lucky.

Did you do anything nice with OSL? Let us know in the comments.
