2020 is the year for the big releases on RenderStreet. Our new interface has been officially launched in April, and at the time I was promising more upgrades soon.
It’s now time to talk about the next one, which brings faster transfers and faster file processing for your renders. More specifically, this is about upgrades to our infrastructure, for both our core and our auxiliary (file management) services. Your file uploads and downloads will be faster, your movie previews and thumbnails will be generated more rapidly, the archives will be ready for download in a shorter time and the uploads to your cloud accounts will also be faster.
This is quite a large project (and also a critical one), as it involves code, hardware and networking changes. This means it took time to plan it, develop it and implement it. We are currently in the second phase of its release, and everything works as planned. As of now, two new features are officially available:
EU-based storage space for accounts. From now on, clients from Europe and from countries that are closer to Europe will have their accounts assigned to our EU storage space (located in Germany). This will bring better transfer speeds and an even faster experience when using our interface and our Blender plug-in. We have already started moving accounts for our existing users from Europe to the new machines as well. Check the flag at the top of your RenderStreet interface for details about the location of your account.
Dedicated / private storage machines for individual accounts. Available now as an option for Studio accounts, dedicated storage machines can offer one more layer of separation for private projects, as well as more storage space and faster transfers. At the moment we can provide such machines both in the US and in the EU, upon request. Pricing depends on the amount of storage needed, and on the location of the machine. Contact us for more details.
The third phase of the upgrade is coming soon, and it will bring the same kind of improvements to our US-based infrastructure, in addition to other upgrades.
Keep close for more updates, as more good news are to follow!
