TL;DR version:
Update: We are back live, and all systems are working in parameters.
We’re performing an infrastructure upgrade and our service will be unavailable on Sunday, May 22nd between 8:00 and 14:00 UTC (more time zones here).
Full version update:
We are back online now, with all systems working in parameters. The upgrade took a bit longer than expected, because of some last minute issues that emerged. We migrated to a more flexible, more powerful, but also a more complicated setup, and the final stage of the transition took some tweaking. All issues have been sorted out, and everything is in the green now.
Some of the benefits you should be seeing directly are a better transfer (upload/download) speed, as we now have a 10gbps connection to the internet. Also, the server-side operations (archiving, thumbnails) will take less time. And we took advantage of the opportunity to release a new thumbnail creating method for multilayer EXR files, which should show the right preview in most circumstances.
Thank you for your patience, and happy rendering!
Full version:
We are continuously working on upgrading our service. Since our launch three years ago, we’ve worked around the clock on adding new features, both on the hardware and on the software side. And, because we know how important it is for you to have a dependable partner, we have gone out of our way to make the majority of all transitions transparent. Our development and release procedures have been created to allow us to release almost all the upgrades without any service interruption. To give just a few examples: interface upgrades, new server types (CPU and GPU), new service plans, new payment methods, all have been released smoothly and without interrupting your work.
However, in some cases, upgrades cannot be performed online, because of technical reasons. This is the case of our upcoming service update. We have initiated an infrastructure upgrade, which will be deployed on Sunday.
As a result, our service will be unavailable on Sunday, May 22nd, between 8:00 and 14:00 UTC (click here to see more time zones), and you won’t be able to transfer files to or from our server during that time. We will make every effort to keep the downtime to a minimum, and we hope you’ll notice the benefits afterward.
