Rendering Blender projects for the past 10 years

Last updated on by .

We just celebrated the 10th anniversary since RenderStreet’s public launch!

Back in 2013, we were proud to officially launch the first professional, dedicated farm for Blender artists and studios. Today, after one decade of growth, we are still going strong and providing one of the most recommended render farm services for the Blender and Modo communities.

Growing and developing a business is a challenging task. Growing and developing a business in a fast-changing environment, like the IT world, is even more so.

When we launched, the 3DFX world was still debating whether the cloud could be a good tool to use for rendering productions. Our bet was that it was a good tool, and we chose to develop RenderStreet around this concept. Today, almost all studios, from very small to very large, use cloud rendering for their work.

But our biggest satisfaction is brought by the fact that we’re able to help independent artists, freelancers, and small studios to get their work done safely, efficiently, and on time. Blender was an underdog at the time, so artists and studios using it as their main tool were all but ignored by most commercial services. At the same time, they badly needed tools to help them deliver. As one of our founders is a 3D artist, we know first-hand how important it is to have the right tools at the right time. And we’re glad to see that we’re now helping many, many artists and studios to punch above their weight and take on larger projects because we have their back.

Here are, in short, a few of the things we accomplished in our first decade of existence:

  • First dedicated, professional rendering service for Blender users
  • One of the first cloud-based render farms for Blender and Modo
  • Providers of an industry-unique, affordable, subscription-based render plan
  • First render farm to offer support for the Eevee rendering engine
  • Over 110 million frames successfully delivered so far, for Blender and Modo users and studios
  • Catering to customers from 126 countries

Our rendering platform, created 100% in-house, has been in continuous development since our launch. Our codebase had over 1,500 code commits/revisions, the vast majority of them being deployed without any service interruptions. The hardware used for rendering had also a number of updates – with a yearly frequency in the past 4 years.

Both our service availability and our success rate in delivering projects have been in the 99% zone over the past 6 years. Our service is at a mature stage, both technologically and operationally, and RenderStreet just delivers.

Looking ahead, our future plans will be influenced by the evolutions in the economical climate and the technology advancements. The past three years have been quite different, compared to what everyone was used to: pandemic, war, trade restrictions, and economical challenges. The future might bring more turmoil on the economical side, and there’s also the great new disruptor in our lives, called AI. So there’s also a good chance our lives will make a turn for the better soon. In any case, we’ll be living interesting times, and you can take that to the bank! At RenderStreet, we’re all set to navigate the upcoming tides and we’ll be here to have your back when you need us!

We’re excited to enter the next phase of our development. Keep close, as always!
