Mike Pan’s famous test subject, in progress of being rendered

For those who are rendering complex still images, we added a new feature: real time preview of the rendered image on RenderStreet.

This means that both the thumbnail and the main image will be created once the job is started, and updated as the render advances. Even if the total render time for the image is hours or even days, the rendering progress can be seen just after a few minutes. This makes it possible to confirm that the image looks as expected while it’s still rendering. You can also download the partial image at any moment — please note that the preview will be in PNG format.

The feature is automatic and works for all render engines supported by RenderStreet, both for CPU and GPU renders. All you have to do is start your job as usual, and then watch the image being created.

Update: We discovered that under certain conditions and for some output formats, the feature may interfere with the final render results. This is why we temporarily disabled the feature until we make more tests. Will be back with an update on this.

2nd update: The issues have been sorted out and everything worked well in our tests. The preview feature is now back online.
